Switzerland's largest funfair, the "Basel Autumn Fair" (Basler Herbstmesse), will open on October 24, 2026. According to the official website of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, this fair has a history of more than 550 years, with about 500 rides, stalls and food and drink outlets spread across seven squares throughout the city, and is one of the largest inner-city fairs in Europe.
· October 24 to November 8: Barfüsserplatz, Münsterplatz, Messeplatz, Rosentalanlage, Kasernenareal and Hallenmesse.
· Petersplatz (including the traditional pots and pans market Hääfelimäärt) stays open until November 10.
· Barfüsserplatz, Münsterplatz, Kasernenareal, Hallenmesse: Sunday to Thursday 12:00–22:00, Friday and Saturday 12:00–23:00.
· Messeplatz, Rosentalanlage: Sunday to Thursday 11:00–22:00, Friday and Saturday 11:00–23:00.
· Petersplatz and Hääfelimäärt: daily 11:00–20:00.

The official website does not list a general admission ticket; rides and stalls charge the prices posted on site. Families with children, take note: from November 2 to 5, families holding a Familienpass (family card) can get discounts on many rides.

The organizer recommends taking public transport. The Messeplatz stop is served by tram lines 1, 2, 6, 14, 15, 16 and 21; the Barfüsserplatz stop by lines 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 15, 16 and 17; for Kasernenareal, get off at the Claraplatz or Kaserne stop.
